The Aviation Exploring program turned out to be instrumental in my career and life. Its impact can still be felt today in my development as an Air Force aviator.
I have been fortunate to fly with the U.S. AWACS and NATO AWACS. I was selected as Navigator of the Year twice in my Wing and Operations Group and became an instructor, evaluator and Functional Check Flight Navigator aboard the E-3 AWACS.
I was among the first to operate our jet from a forward operating base in Afghanistan, participated in testing the control and operation of UAVs from another airborne aircraft, flew at airshows and participated in anti-piracy and counter-drug operations. After 14 years of service, I was selected for lieutenant colonel.
I can honestly say that without the outstanding support, time and sincere effort provided during Aviation Explorers, I would not have been able to reach this place in my career.
Thank you for helping ignite the fire of aviation and fostering its growth as I reached for the sky. Opening the aviation community to Explorers to encourage dreams and inspire a young generation is a gift that has stayed with me.
