Keep Your Skills Sharp When You Can't Be Flying
The Redbird LD is an Advanced Aviation Training Device and comes equipped with all of the standard features of a Redbird SD, but without a cockpit enclosure and pilot seats.
It is a fantastic addition for the individual pilot dedicated to maintaining instrument currency and keeping skills sharp when they cannot be flying the real thing.
Chapter 723 makes this training resource available to eligible members for aviation education, proficiency and approved training activities.
Before Using the Simulator
Requirements for Use
Anyone using the Chapter 723 Redbird Simulator must meet the chapter's simulator requirements and follow the current Redbird policy.
Active Chapter Member
Be an active member of EAA Chapter 723 in good standing.
Complete Orientation
Receive simulator training and orientation from a Board-approved individual before using the equipment.
Be the Simulator Operator
The person using the simulator must be the individual at the controls, not someone providing instruction or coaching.
Pay Applicable Simulator Fees
Simulator use must be paid for in accordance with Chapter 723 policy, either at the time of use or through approved prepaid block time.
Pay for Redbird Time
Redbird simulator time is $50 per hour. Enter your hours below; 1.5 hours costs $75. Payment does not reserve a session. Coordinate scheduling with the chapter and follow the simulator requirements.

Chapter 723 Redbird Simulator
Simulator Policy
The following provides the key operating requirements and policies for use of the EAA Chapter 723 Redbird Simulator.
Purpose & Introduction
- The primary purpose of the EAA Chapter 723 Redbird Simulator is to support a wide range of educational activities, including youth and adult aviation programs such as EAA Young Eagles and Eagle Flights, as well as the EAA 723 general membership.
- The simulator is intended to be an educational aid for members either in furtherance of their aeronautical education or to maintain proficiency.
- The EAA 723 Redbird Simulator is an approved Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) that allows a user to legally log time in search of a rating and/or to maintain currency, provided the time is logged in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
- The Redbird Simulator shall not be used for personal financial gain or benefit. Refer to applicable chapter procedures regarding special provisions for instructors.
Requirements for Use
- Be an active member of EAA 723 in good standing.
- Have received simulator training/orientation from a Board-approved individual.
- Be the individual at the controls of the simulator, not a person providing instruction or coaching.
- Pay for simulator use in accordance with this policy, either at time of use or as prepaid block time.
- Do not disclose passwords or otherwise provide access to non-approved members or outside individuals.
- Ensure that all logging of time using the EAA simulator in furtherance of a rating and/or to maintain currency is accomplished in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Use the simulator as an operator only and do not perform system administration to the Redbird software, Wi-Fi or database. No one is allowed to modify or install software on the Redbird Simulator or laptop.
- Youth receiving an orientation flight as part of Young Eagles or another supported youth organization must be under the guidance of an EAA 723 member approved to provide youth orientation.
- Keep the simulator area clean and professional. All trash and personal items must be removed from the simulator area upon completion of a session.
Rates
- Rates are subject to change throughout the year at the discretion of the Chapter 723 Board.

Enforcement
- An individual found in violation of this policy shall be cautioned, may lose Redbird privileges, and may be subject to a Board decision regarding Chapter 723 membership.
Updates & Changes
- The policy is reviewed periodically for user suggestions, software updates and FAR-mandated modifications.
- Updates may be made at any time when approved by the Chapter 723 Board.
- Reasons for approved updates are documented in the chapter's policy change history.
